This thesis project explores emerging zoonotic diseases within socio-ecological systems, with a particular focus on bushmeat networks in West Africa. Focusing on the ecological and epidemiological dynamics of two priority pathogens, this project examines how wildlife exploitation interferes with public health risks. The Lama classified forest in Benin provides an insight into the circulation of zoonotic pathogens among wild and domestic animals consumed by local communities. This project is in line with global priorities in terms of pandemic prevention, the links between biodiversity and health, and surveillance at the interface between human and animal pathologies.
